The BL-SD Handguard Adapter
You ever wanted to attach the classic rubber MP5-SD handguard to your MP5? I did, and was very disappointed to find out that it wasn’t a thing you could do. They are designed to clamp onto a metal frame that is only present on a real MP5-SD, and the clones being sold to us these days don’t come with that structure. Reading topic after topic, the consensus was: no way, it doesn’t work, the gun is totally different, don’t even try it.
Granted, the authentic MP5-SD has some very unique internals and a massive integral suppressor to get the platform as quiet as possible. However, I already had a suppressor and subsonic ammo, and just wanted the comfortable grip for my monster hands and the 70s style points.
I decided the general consensus was bullshit and designed an adapter to stand in for the metal frame found on a real MP5-SD. The final product is a durable accessory, connecting via the push pin like any other MP5 handguard, which lets you wrap that ribbed rubber goodness* around it. After some months of testing and tedious trial and error, I finally have a design that I’m very happy to release: The Bootleg MP5-SD Adapter, or the BL-SD.
Made from a durable, heat resistant carbon fiber nylon, it holds the ribbed handguard in place, sits snug, and has a low visual profile. By combining this adapter, the handguard, and a tri-lug mounted suppressor with a diameter of 43.5mm or below, you too can enjoy the MP5-SD aesthetic without the wait and financial gut punch of a custom SD build.
I recommend pairing this with a trilug-mounted YHM R9 or Omega 9K for peak MP5-SD fakery.

*At this time, the BL-SD adapter does not come with the MP5-SD rubber handguard. This can be purchased elsewhere, although I am looking at possibly providing ready-to-go bundles in the future. I put together a guide on where to find one, click here for a text and video overview.
